This presentation is sponsored by the Archives & Libraries Section. In “Tags and Burners, Cycles and Networks: Folklore in the Telectronic Age,” John Dorst painted a picture of Folklore Studies in the information age. His article examined how electronic mailing systems and online networks can be used to disseminate folklore phenomena among scholars. Since then, the internet and digital technology have changed how individuals interact. In this paper, I aim to present a history of the effects of technology on folklore and provide an outlook on how digital methods can develop the field.
