Anthony Cattani (Wisconsin Humanities)
The Community Powered Racine project, a partnership between Wisconsin Humanities, Racine Public Library, and the SE WI LGBT Center, focuses on making visible the often overlooked assets of the queer community in Racine, Wisconsin. Using methods such as asset mapping, community gatherings and workshops, and fostering dialog with local leaders to activate their community, this project has worked to build trust with a skeptical community, creating online and in-person spaces for the community to speak across differences, and share their stories. This presentation will demonstrate how the community has come together to see Racine anew and share their Racine pride.
