Co-Cuisinality: Toward a New Terminology for Communal Cooking Practices

Jessica Noe (University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill)

This presentation introduces and seeks commentary on a new term to describe the process of communal cooking: co-cuisinality. I currently define co-cuisinality as the act of cooking together in order to feed a collective, share knowledge, and build community. In this presentation, I’ll discuss the components, influences, and implications of the term as it currently exists in my work. My hope is that this presentation can help me further develop the term to increase its applicability.
