American Folklore Society Annual Meetings often conclude with a participatory and celebratory dance event. Full and final details will be available in the final online program, but here the Society notes that the Local Arrangements Committee is working with Native American cultural leaders to plan a participatory stomp dance as the concluding social event for the annual meeting. As anticipated, this would be open to all annual meeting attendees as well as to other Native and non-Native participants. Stomp dance is the shared social dance form found among almost all of the Native American Nations of eastern Oklahoma, including among the Cherokee, Muscogee, Shawnee, and Yuchi living in and near the city of Tulsa.
