The participants in the Forum “Traditional Dances of Mexico and Greater Mexico” explore the traditional dance expressions of communities in Mexico and the U.S. through the lens of an ethnochoreological analysis that situates the performative nature of dance within community spaces. Each of the presenters focuses on a particular dance expression from the danza de Paixtles to the folklórico dance groups in the U.S. the study of embodied knowledge as expressed through the dance movement. After offering a brief introduction to their particular study, the Forum will allow conversation among the presenters and the attendees.
