Founded in response to the question “how can folklife address food insecurity?,” Share Your Foodways celebrates the food traditions of Central New Jersey while providing local families access to recipes and ingredients. In an online series, community cooks share their foodways through video tutorials, printable recipe cards, and chef bios, all available in both English and Spanish. One hundred food kits for each tutorial, along with a bilingual, laminated recipe card, are given free to families via a network of over 140 food pantries. A 2021 partnership with the New Jersey Folk Festival showcased food traditions of Oaxaca, the Festival’s featured theme.
