The participants in the forum “Traditional Dances of Mexico and Greater Mexico (Part II), and Beyond” explore enduring dance expressions of communities in Mexico and the United States through the lens of an ethnochoreological analysis that situates the performative nature of dance within community spaces. Through a focus on specific dance expressions: the danza de Paixtles; Comanchitos Genízaro dances; U.S. folklórico dance groups; and North Indian Kathak dance in the United States, each presenter highlights embodied knowledge as expressed through dance movement. Following brief introductions to their particular study, the forum will allow conversation among the presenters and the attendees.
